Account opened by natural or legal guardian in the name of a girl child who is an Indian resident. Girl child age must not exceed 10 years at account opening. Maximum of two accounts permitted per family (one for each girl child), except in cases of twin/triplet girl children born in second birth with medical certificate proof.

How to Apply

1. Obtain the SSY Account Opening Form (Form 1) from any Post Office or authorized commercial bank branch (e.g. SBI, PNB, BoB) or download from https://www.indiapost.gov.in. 2. Fill in details of the girl child, date of birth, guardian details, and initial deposit amount (minimum ₹250). 3. Attach self-attested copies of girl child birth certificate and guardian KYC (Aadhaar, PAN). 4. Submit at the post office/bank counter with cash or cheque for initial deposit. 5. The institution issues an SSY Passbook containing account number, beneficiary details, and interest terms. Subsequent deposits can be transferred online via IPPB or NetBanking.
